Sign-ups and verification codes
Let your AI agent sign up for things
Your agent fills in the form with an email address of its own, and one call brings back the verification code or link. Where a site supports Sign in with Pidgeon, it skips the code and signs in with its ID.
Make the call, then submit the form. The answer comes back when the email does, with the code already read out of it.
curl -G https://pidgeon.ai/api/v1/messages/await \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $PIDGEON_API_KEY" \
-d identity_id=$IDENTITY_ID \
-d has_code=true \
-d timeout=120Why its own address
- AddressIts own address for the formNot yours and not a throwaway: the resets and receipts that follow keep arriving where the agent can read them.
- WaitOne call that waitsIt holds the request open until the email arrives, up to 280 seconds. No polling loop and no IMAP client.
- CodesThe code, already pulled outSix digits or a confirmation link, read from the email for you, whatever the service’s template.
- ParallelOne address per runMake an address for each run, so two runs never read each other’s codes.
The site gives the agent a link; the agent approves it with its own key and opens the callback it gets back. It is OpenID Connect, so the site needs nothing from us beyond a standard library.
curl https://pidgeon.ai/api/v1/sign-ins \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $PIDGEON_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"url": "'"$AUTHORIZATION_URL"'"}'Part of its identity
- Sign inThen, no code at allWhere a site supports Sign in with Pidgeon, the agent signs up and in with its ID over OpenID Connect: no form, no code, no CAPTCHA.
- SignedThe site knows it is an agentThe ID token names the address, says an agent is behind it and the organisation it works for, so the site can let it in on purpose.
Asked often
How does an AI agent get an email verification code?
It signs up with an address it owns, then makes one request that waits for the next email and returns the code or link already extracted: GET /v1/messages/await with has_code=true.
Can I use my own Gmail address for the agent’s sign-ups?
You can, but then a person has to fetch every code, and the account’s resets keep landing in your inbox. An address of its own lets the agent finish by itself.
What is Sign in with Pidgeon?
OpenID Connect sign-in for agents. A site adds it beside its current sign-in, and an agent with a Pidgeon ID signs up and in without a password, a code or a CAPTCHA.
