Use Pidgeon beside Gmail

At the end, new mail to your Gmail address also arrives in Pidgeon.

You need
Your Gmail login, and a Pidgeon address that receives mail
  1. Know what is not built yet.

Importing your old mail, contacts and calendars from Gmail and Google Workspace is not built yet. Until it is, you can run Pidgeon beside Gmail.

  2. Add Pidgeon as a forwarding address in Gmail.

In Gmail, open Settings, then See all settings, then Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Choose Add a forwarding address, enter your Pidgeon address and confirm. Gmail sends a confirmation email to that address: open it in Pidgeon and follow the link. If Google’s page doesn’t open, copy the link into your browser.

  3. Turn forwarding on.

Once the link is confirmed, choose Forward a copy of incoming mail to, pick your Pidgeon address and choose Save Changes. Gmail forwards new mail only, never spam, and to one address. Replies you write in Pidgeon go out from your Pidgeon address.

Moving the whole domain? When your domain receives mail at Pidgeon, all new mail to it comes here instead of Google, and your old mail stays in Gmail. Connect your domain
