Switch your company’s email to Pidgeon
At the end, your team’s new mail arrives in Pidgeon, and your old mail is where it was.
- Time
- A few minutes
- You need
- Your domain, and a Cloudflare or Vercel token or access to its DNS settings
Tell Pidgeon your company and domain.
Sign up, and enter your company and its domain when Pidgeon asks. Under Switch acme.com to Pidgeon, with your domain in place of acme.com, choose See what moves.
Check what moves.
Pidgeon shows where your mail is today, who hosts your domain, and every address it found: yours, your team’s and the shared ones. Choose Leave this address out for any you don’t want, then Continue. Nothing has changed yet, and your old provider keeps working.
Approve the change.
If your domain is on Cloudflare or Vercel, paste a token with permission to edit its DNS and choose Approve the change. Pidgeon uses it once and then forgets it. Anywhere else, choose Add the settings myself and copy the two settings into your domain’s DNS. Each one ticks when it’s working. If someone else runs your domain, choose Send these to whoever runs it.
Let it finish.
Pidgeon sets up sending first, then your team’s addresses, then your mail. Each person gets an invitation at the address they use today. New mail usually arrives in Pidgeon within a few minutes. You can leave the screen; Pidgeon carries on and tells you when it’s done.
Switch back, if you need to.
For 30 days, the switch’s screen has Switch back to your old provider. With a token, Pidgeon puts the old setting back; otherwise it shows you the one to paste.
Your old mail stays where it is, readable at your old provider. Bringing it into Pidgeon is coming next. Cancel the old provider only once you’re sure, because Switch back needs it there. From Google Workspace · From Microsoft 365
