How the switch works

How it works
  • See it before anything moves. Tell Pidgeon your domain. It shows where your mail is, who hosts the domain, and every address you use: yours, your team’s and the shared ones. Leave out any you don’t want. Nothing changes until you approve.

  • Approve once. Paste a Cloudflare or Vercel token and Pidgeon makes the changes. Anywhere else, copy two settings into your domain’s DNS; each one ticks when it’s working.

  • Sending first. Pidgeon signs your mail as your domain before anything else moves, so it doesn’t land in spam.

  • Move everyone together. While your domain is still in Microsoft 365, mail between colleagues who still use Outlook stays inside Microsoft. So move the whole team at once.

  • Then your team, then your mail. Each person gets an invitation at the address they use today, and the address is theirs when they accept. Shared addresses become inboxes your team reads together. Then your domain’s mail moves to Pidgeon, usually within a few minutes. No Microsoft sign-in is needed, and you can leave the screen.

Undo, for 30 days

  • Switch back. For 30 days after you switch, one press sends your domain’s mail back to Microsoft 365. With a token, Pidgeon puts the old setting back; otherwise it shows you the one to paste.

  • Nothing at Microsoft is touched. Your account, your old mail and your billing stay as they are. Your team can still sign in to Outlook and read everything.

  • A few senders may lag. For a short while after you switch, a few senders may still deliver to Outlook. You’ll find those messages there.

03

Your old mail

  • It stays in Outlook. Your old mail and folders stay in Outlook, readable as they are today, until you cancel Microsoft 365. Bringing them into Pidgeon is coming next.

04

Before you cancel Microsoft 365

  • Switch first, then cancel. Cancel only once your team’s mail has been arriving at Pidgeon for a while and you’re sure. Switch back only works while Microsoft 365 is still there.

  • Remove your domain first. Microsoft asks you to remove your domain from Microsoft 365 before you cancel.

  • Refunds and your data. A refund is only due within 7 days of starting or renewing. After you cancel, Microsoft keeps your data for at least 30 days, then deletes it. Export what you want to keep first.

Questions

Can my team keep Outlook?

Yes. Outlook connects to Pidgeon like any other mail account.

We use Teams and SharePoint.

Keep them. Switching your email doesn’t touch them, though Microsoft wants the domain removed before you cancel the subscription that includes them.

Can I bring my Outlook mail into Pidgeon?

Not yet: it’s coming next. Until then, your old mail stays in Outlook, readable as it is.

Do I need to sign in to Microsoft to switch?

No. The switch only changes where your domain’s new mail goes.

What does Pidgeon cost?

Free to start. Pro is €20 a month for the whole company, with unlimited inboxes for people and agents.
